Susan Elkington is senior vice president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK), Inc., in Georgetown, Ky. Toyota’s largest production facility in North America, TMMK produces the Camry, Avalon, and Lexus ES 350. Elkington is responsible for all vehicle manufacturing operations and administrative functions at the facility.
Prior to joining TMMK, Elkington completed a three-year global executive assignment at Toyota Motor Corporation’s (TMC) global headquarters located in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. During this assignment, she held the positions of general manager of Production Control division and project general manager of Project Planning and Management division supporting the annual production more than 9 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles globally.
Elkington started her career with Toyota in 1998 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, Inc. (TMMI) in Princeton, Ind., as an assembly engineering specialist on the team preparing the new plant for the production of its first vehicle, the Tundra full-size pickup truck.
Over the years, Elkington has held increasingly responsible leadership positions in production, maintenance and engineering at TMMI including general manager of Stamping and Body Weld, general manager of Assembly, and vice president of Administration. She was promoted to vice president of Manufacturing at TMMI in January 2013.
Elkington holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Evansville.
