John Tinney is vice president of Production Engineering (PE) for Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TEMA) based in Erlanger, KY. TEMA supports Toyota's engineering and manufacturing operations in North America.
In his role, Tinney is responsible for Safety; Powertrain, consisting of Engine, Transmission and Axle Production; Plant and Environmental Engineering; and Maintenance, Spare Parts and Internal Logistics Engineering.
Tinney joined Toyota in 2004 at the company’s engine and transmission assembly plant in Buffalo, West Virginia, as a manager in PE. He spent nine years at the plant in positions including assistant general manager for Manufacturing Support and general manager of Manufacturing before transferring to TEMA as vice president for Production Engineering.
Prior to joining Toyota, Tinney worked at Roller Bearing Company of America as director of Operations and prior to that, he worked at NSK as Business Unit Manager.
A native of Ireland, Tinney received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick (formerly N.I.H.E), Ireland and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
